The Babysitter

Every Tuesday morning for the past month I've had a babysitter watch the girls.  I head to a local bookstore and write for three blessedly uninterrupted hours.  (My book deadline is approaching.  Cue various visceral responses, among them a happy squeal, nervous laughter, and lightheadedness.)

Last week when I returned home I saw this impressive paper firework dangling from our kitchen light fixture:

As I approached it and marveled at the intracacy, I had several thoughts:

- What IS that?
- How did she do that?
- Our babysitter is amazing.
- Clearly, people like her are why Pinterest exists.

And finally, This is going to be hanging above our kitchen table so I bump my head on it each time I stand up from my chair for the next several months, isn't it?

(Yes, it is.)

I wish I could tell you how she did it.  She briefly explained the procedure.  (It has to do with paper and folding and cutting, but after that, I got lost.)

All I can tell you is that you've got to get yourself a babysitter like her.

Wow, it's made from artwork your kids did, isn't it. That is SO cool. Last time we came home from being out, we found our babysitter asleep on the couch. We love her to bits and know she was embarrassed and appalled, but it was a bit concerning.

  2. You've got a good eye: yep... the girls colored the pages and our babysitter helped them to make the configurations.

I'd be a bit concerned if I came home and found our babysitter asleep, too. Sorry to hear about that!

My sisters left this post up for me when I got home! I'm glad you like it so much, the girls and I had a great time coloring. Also, I have refrained (with MUCH self-control) from getting a Pinterest because it was made for me...to become hopelessly addicted to.

  15. You actually make it seem really easy along with your presentation
however I to find this topic to be actually one thing that I think I'd never understand. It seems too complex and extremely wide for me. I'm looking forward for your next put up, I'll try to get the cling of it!
